Artist Statement

Jordon Ritchie (b. 1998, Nassau, N.P., The Bahamas) is an interdisciplinary artist focusing on painting and printmaking. Raised in Hamilton, Long Island, Ritchie’s practice explores gender, identity, and queerness through representations of the body and the landscape. Often centering on self-portraiture, his work negotiates ideas of tenderness and otherness by positioning the body with local flora and fauna through a mixed-media approach. Ritchie also has an emerging curatorial practice that centers contemporary Caribbean art.
